It was only last year when I discovered that I was actually born on the year of the Rat, not the Ox. You could imagine how shocked I was, haha. It was like having an identity crisis sort of thing.

Anyway, never mind that now. Happy Chinese New Year, and hope you all have a great one ahead! :)

I'm not very superstitious or what, and I'm pretty clueless about symbols. But it doesn't hurt to try these Prosperity Candles I got as a gift from Mel, an officemate. Interesting how it works, anyway.

Instructions on the Prosperity Candle box:
At exactly 11:30 p.m. on December 31, light all the candles. Each candle symbolizes various aspects of life, like peace, wealth, health, etc. Put out at 12 midnight. Arrange from the smallest to the tallest. The candle that melts the quickest symbolizes the good fortune that the New Year brings you, followed by the rest.

Here's how my candles turned out.


Not arranged from smallest to tallest because some of them had mixed waxes while burning.
Violet: material, red: love, pink: health, green: money, blue: peace, yellow: good spirit, orange: brightness

According to the code, the my top three good fortunes this year are material things (I have more than what I need/want already i_i but I wouldn't say no to a condo. Or a car! Haha), health (less asthma attacks?), and love (oh, really now, haha). Money comes in at top four (yay!), then peace, good spirit, and brightness. What the heck.

Oh, anyway, good fortune of whatever kind is always welcome.
